Delphine LaLaurie is a character from the third season of the television series American Horror Story (Coven), and is portrayed by Kathy Bates. She is based on a real person who committed horrible crimes against the slaves she owned and was a true serial killer who fled the country upon being found out.

In the show, she does not escape punishment for her crimes. She is cursed to live forever and endures centuries long torment buried alive, until she is unearthed by a coven...

Her sworn enemy, Marie Laveau, a voodoo queen, imprisoned her for her crimes against slaves and her beloved. After being unearthed, she is forced to be a servant in the coven's home, and becomes the personal servant of Queenie, which she is horrified by as Queenie is black.

Although she is full of racism and horrid qualities, Queenie still tries to educate her and even feed her when she is again imprisoned by Marie. She still seeks vengeance for what Marie has done, and tries to figure out a way to kill her...
